2009 is almost here! We have talked about making our "socials" monthly instead of bi-monthly and I think the beginning of the year is a great time to kick this off. The Thompson's suggested bowling and that works for us! I was thinking Friday, January 9th or 16th might be good days. Leave a comment on which day would be better and we'll go from there.
Also, back at the beginning of December our Sunday school class got asked to lead an ushering group. It will be one time every other month. Our first Sunday to usher is January 18th at the 11:00 o'clock service. Please please please try and be here for this Sunday! Leave a comment about this as well so we'll know who will be there that day.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year's! See you all on Sunday!

What a fun night of painting! The girls started the paintings and did the green part of the wreath and the background and then guys finished the paintings up with the all the design on the wreath and background. The finished products were great!!

Coming up...
We talked this week in Sunday school and are planning to all go shopping for our Angel Tree Child this coming Sunday (11/30). We're planning to all go out to lunch after the 11 o'clock service and then head to the stores to do some Christmas shopping! We aren't supposed to spend more than $100, so that will be about $15 per couple. Salvatore's on Hwy 31 was mentioned for lunch, but we're up for anything! Hopefully everyone will be in town and able to make it.
This week (11/30) will be the 5th Sunday connection class, which is held in our classroom! They will be discussing the Camp Sumatanga campaign, so will not have a regular class this week.
Since we've been talking the last two weeks about the desire to have more contemporary music added to the service, I thought I would share this video someone sent to me. Enjoy!

Christmas Party
I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet, but I thought we should get planning! We had talked about having a "painting" party and I still think that is a great idea! It would be $30 per person for the paintings. She will come to us wherever we want to have the party and bring all the supplies. These are a few of the samples she sent, but said if there was something we found that we like better she could do that.

I told her Christmas paintings, but if you all want to do a painting that is not Christmas related that is fine with me! Let me know what you think and a possible date and location. I hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far!

Updates!
It was great to get to mix with other Sunday School classes last week, but this week we will be back to our regular schedule with our little group :) We aren't going to be able to call it little very much longer! Reed and I have been very encouraged over the last few weeks as more and more people are finding out about the class and wanting to get involved. We had 2 new visitors last week and hopefully they'll be back this week so everyone else in the class can meet them! (No pressure, Chase and Allison!)
We will be continuing our study of the book of Mark this week. I hope everyone will be in town and at Sunday School!
I believe we have a birthday this week, Wiley! I was thinking maybe we could all go out to lunch together after the 11 o'clock service to celebrate. We can talk about it more on Sunday, but I wanted to throw that idea out there! Hope to see everyone Sunday!

Sunday, November 9
We will be combining with a few other Sunday school classes next week. We have a guest speaker coming to talk with us about the conflict between Russia & Georgia. Please join us for a wonderful time of fellowship & learning with other classes from our church.
We were thinking since the presentation will be held in our Sunday school room we could provide refreshments for the group. Leave a comment if you would like to volunteer to bring a breakfast dish to share!
Thank you to Brooke for a wonderful lesson & discussion this morning! We took an in-depth look at Galations 3: 25-29.
Visitors are always welcome and we hope you will join us next week!

Boo Ya'll!
Wow, what a fun night! We had our pumpkin party last night and it was so much fun! We carved our pumpkins during halftime and it was a lot of fun to watch the guys get into it! The pumpkins turned out so cute (and scary!). We missed those of you who couldn't make it, but hope to see you Sunday at church. And just for you, Drew, Boo Ya'll!!

October 19
We don't have many updates this week, but I wanted to let everyone know that Andy King would be coming to our Sunday School class this week to talk about Stewardship. He'll only be there for about 10 minutes. Thank you in advance to the the Truss's for teaching our lesson this week.
Be sure to continue inviting people to our Halloween party next week. We hope to have a great turnout! Also, if you would RSVP under the BYOP post that would be great! We want everyone to come!
Matt & Julie -- I hope you are planning to bring Natalie! We haven't gotten to see her in a while.
I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week!

Fireproof
I was just reading the church newsletter and came across a part where the church is going to see the movie Fireproof on Oct. 5 @ 4:00PM. This is the second time I have read about this movie this morning. I saw it on another friend's blog (her pastor was encouraging her and her husband to go see it). I was intrigued, so I clicked the link: http://www.fireproofthemovie.com/ to find out what it was all about. It is from the same producers (Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA) as Facing the Giants. I watched the trailer and it looks like a really good movie. I'm sure it will be predictable and cheesy, but it has a great message! Anway, I was thinking maybe we could all go together as a class to see the movie next weekend with the church. Check out the website and see what you think.

Attendance Sunday
Attendance Sunday is finally here! Everyone please make an extra effort to come to Sunday School this week. The church is trying to set an attendance goal. Our goal is to have at least 10 people in our class. This shouldn't be a problem for us! We had also talked about going to lunch as a group after the 11:00 service. I haven't heard any specifics on restaurants, but here are a few I thought of off the top of my head:
- California Pizza Kitchen
- Salvatore's
- Iguana Grill
- McAlister's
- Outback
- La Fiesta
- Panera
- Chipotle
- Moe's
- Scholtzsky's
There are a TON more options, but I thought that might get us thinking. I tried to do places along HWY 31 so we wouldn't have to travel far. If you have a preference or a suggestion leave a comment and we'll get a discussion going! Also, no one has volunteered to teach. Let's discuss that as well. Please let the group know if you will be unable to attend this week. I hope everyone is having a great week and I'll see you all Sunday (hopefully)!

Sunday, September 21
No one has volunteered to facilitate and/or teach this coming Sunday. We (The King's) will be out of town. If someone would like to volunteer, please post a comment and let everyone know. If you would like to continue the Mark study, it is in a .pdf document in the post below. However, you do not have to teach on this!
Also, I thought it would be a good idea to start discussing possibilities for our lunch outing on September 28. Remember to keep inviting people to join our group. Newlyweds, nearlyweds and singles, everyone is welcome!!

Mark Study
During Sunday School this past Sunday, we decided to begin a series on the book of Mark. We will be rotating who is facilitating the study each week. If you click on the words "Mark Study" below, it will take you to a PDF document that has each chapter of Mark broken down into manageable pieces. We will see how far we get each Sunday and then pick up the following week wherever we left off. This past week, we looked at Mark 1: 1-20.

If you would like to faciliate one week, please leave a comment letting us know which week and we'll add your names to the calendar.
